Addressing the Needs of the Church

In response to the changing world around us, Christians are searching for ways to further develop the reach of the Catholic Church.  If these good intentions are going to bear fruit - if the Church is going to not only exist, but thrive in today's society - men and women throughout our communities must come forward and take an active part.

Far more action of an ecumenical nature is needed.  As Knights of Columbus, our prime responsibility is to encourage and promote that action.  The lay apostolate must respond to the constant call for active involvement n the work of the Church.  Our council has the numbers, the organization, and the communication ability to get involved and spread the word throughout the Christian community...this is the mission of our Church activities.  Areas that encompass the activities of the Church Director are:

  • Parish Roundtables
  • Lay Apostolate
  • Evangelization
  • Promotion of Fr. McGivney
  • Vocations
  • Parochial Services
  • Religious Devotions
  • Keep Christ In Christmas

Divine Mercy

posted Apr 20, 2009 12:53 AM by Kory Paulsen

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Soup Supper, Stations and Adoration

posted Mar 11, 2009 12:16 AM by Kory Paulsen

Each Friday during Lent, St. Cecilia has a soup supper, Stations of the Cross and Perpetual Adoration.  Last Friday our council ran the soup supper and assisted with stations and adoration.  Thanks to some great leadership and a good volunteer turn out, things ran very smoothly.  Around ninety guests attended the supper.  I had the clam chowder--which was great!  There was also a vegetable ravioli and...  another type I think...  and some really tasty bread.  Anyway, it was all pretty good ... so I'm not sure if it really counted as fasting ;)  Afterward, stations and adoration were also great.  Meditating on Christ's passion is always time well spent and worshiping Him in the Eucharist always seems to move me more than I expect it will beforehand.  In summary, the evening was a great experience!
